  Tuberculosis Case Study

He always seemed like a man who worked hard in any condition that he was in. He lived in a small town Shadong, China with his wife Lo Mei and his 17 year old son Han on a small farm. Kim Jang Yu was a hardworking man, until one day he noticed when he coughed, it was a very bad cough, and his chest started to have a very sharp pain inside it. He merely took a Tylenol and got some sleep. But the next day, he felt worse. He gained a fever and felt weak.
He didn’t know what was happened. So he got his wife to take him to the nearby hospital which was 10 miles away.  When they arrived he felt very tired as if he hadn’t sleep in a week and his body was like an anchor on the table. The doctor took tests of his blood he coughed up from earlier and when the test came back it was positive of Tuberculosis.  The doctor had given several prescription pills to let the disease stop from spreading.

He went home afterwards and took a few of the pills the doctor prescribed and he was feeling fine until after about an hour he began to feel a headache coming on so he popped an aspirin and kept going with his day. But instead of the headache decreasing, it pounded his head to the pulse. The continuous throb of his head hurt terribly until he decided that more sleep was needed. A few days had passed since he’s been to the hospital but it seemed as if he stayed in a catatonic state. Never ate, always slept, and one day he vomited even though he hadn’t consumed a single piece of food at all. His weight has plummeted from a mere 220 Lbs. to a staggering 153 Lbs. He tried to get up to tend to his farm, but he felt so weak and tired he could barely roll over in bed. 

The neighbors came to try and assist with his health but to no prevail. After about a week and a half, he felt as if this was he’s final day on Earth. He looked at his son and said “My son, if today were my last here on this Earth, take care of your mother and the farm. I have saved up enough to buy you a small apartment for you after you graduate college. Make me proud son.” And his son wept for days until that fatal day, when Kim’s wife entered his room to find him dead. His body half of the beds as if it looked as if he tried to come and crawl for help. But he didn’t make it even a foot to the door…. and that was the end of Kim Jang Yu’s Life... In as little as a few weeks.
